Construction of a Sensory Garden
School: Our Lady of the Way Catholic Primary School
Client: Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta
Brief: Design and develop a welcoming communal space for all to enjoy
We are extremely happy with the way this project has turned out for our client. This project was extremely challenging at times however we always found a solution on how to rectify any issues that arose. As mentioned, we wanted to create an environment that is engaging to primary school children and engaged their sense of touch, feel and taste. To create this space, we utilised the following materials and items;
– Soft fall
– Safety Fences & Barracading
– Outdoor cupboards
– Artificial Turf
– Outdoor basins
– Sandstone Blocks
– Play equipment
– Acoustic covered area
Works were carried out with a high level of care and attention to detail provided. We faced challenges which we overcome of carrying works out during time. We constantly engaged with the students and teachers regarding feedback and advice for the proposed schedule of finishes to which they were appreciative for the involvement.
The water feature was designed by the architect engaged by our client CEDP. This formed apart of the landscape drawings provided. Our cabinet makers Cabinets2Go constructed this water feature by hand and facilitated the install in the sandpit that was constructed. The reason is placed in the sandpit was due to the fact that we tapped into the drainage points that were entered in the sandpit to ensure water is draining away effectivley.
